Little Safari Learning Center/LSLC began as Up-n Jacks; a children's entertainment venue turned weekday learning center.
Tanya Poe, an RN since 1990, saw a need for children's activities in the hill country after bringing her own family to Kerrville. She and her husband Daryle had a goal of slowing down to enjoy their then 10 year old daughter and 3 year old son. So in 2007, Tanya retired (so she thought), to begin a journey serving families in a field other than family health.
In order for the company to survive the 2008 recession, the same space converted from an entertainment venue on weekends to a learning center weekdays. Starting out slow with an after school program, then day camp followed by the addition of preschool, all within a year's time. 2016 was a huge year when an established 25+ year old center announced it's closing. It was an ideal time to make the move and switch to full time early childhood education and close the entertainment side of Up-n Jacks.
From then until now, LSLC has grown tremendously and is accredited as a 4-star Texas Rising Star provider. We have a great team of teachers who truly have a love for children and see the importance of what we do. Our goal is to rise above traditional child care standards and prepare children for Kindergarten while helping them with the social emotional aspect of learning.
